Eating Guidelines
Proper nutrition is vital part of orthodontic treatment by allowing faster healing process of supporting tissue (such as bone and gum) during tooth movement process
- Vitamin C is important for healing the bone collagen surrounding your teeth (1-2 sources per day)
- Fat, Oils and Sweets: use sparingly
- Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs: 2-3 servings per day
- Bread, cereal, rice, pasta group: 6-11 servings per day
- Fruit group: 2-4 servings per day 3-5 servings per day
- Vegetable group: 3-5 servings per day
- Milk, yogurt & cheese group: 2-3 servings per day
Eating restriction
Advices to prevent loose brackets and bands which will cause delay in your treatment and prevent cavity:
- Avoid hard foods (such as ice, popcorn, nuts etc.)
- Avoid sticky foods (such as caramel, bubble gum, taffy, gummy bears etc.)
- Avoid foods with high sugar concentration (such as sweet pies, candy etc.)
- Carrots, apples, meat with bone to be cut into small pieces before eating
